Peek a boo!
Just to let everyone know, I don't know where abouts you people live and all, but on sunday 19th, my uncles supermarket will be open from 10am-2pm and everyone working on the day will be donating their wages to a young man who used to work there (I used to work with him) who needs treatment for cancer. Bear in mind, he's only 25 and needs help urgently.

So if you haven't done your weekly shop yet, I'd like to ask everyone to put it off until sunday, and make the trip to IGA Wembley, corner Cambridge and Jersey Sts and come and help someone in need. I'll be working, so you can come and say hi and help a really terrific guy. Thank you for your time.

Inaugural Poker Night

  • Nov. 4th, 2006 at 10:20 AM
Peek a boo!

So, last night was the inaugural poker night that Sarah and I planned with some of the other teachers from school.  It was heaps of fun.  Texas Hold 'Em.  I lost the first round miserably, but won the second one.  Sarah won the first one.  Strange things were going on with us yesterday.

During my English Support lesson, she'd come in just to chill and chat, and some of the boys were playing Rock, Paper, Scissors, so we thought we'd give it a go.  After Sarah won the first one, the next seven in a row we got the same thing.  We had to stop after that because we were laughing too hard.  Then in the car on the way home while waiting at a traffic light, we were talking about said phenomenon, and we decided we'd play with both hands, and 'lo and behold, twice in a row we got the same thing, with the same hand, for example, scissors with the right and rock with the left hand, more so because the left hand doesn't really want to do anything other than rock because it's too hard to try and focus and make your submissive hand do anything.

Then last night, during one of the deals, everyone else had folded and it was only Sarah and I still in.  I only had a five and a Queen but there was a five in the cards in the middle, so I figured, yeah, pair and Queen high.  Sarah put her cards down and she had five and queen.  *Twilight Zone music*  It's happening more frequently the longer we know each other and hang out.  We have the same random thoughts at exactly the same moment.

On another note, we had another Telstra Customer Service Line moment last night.  We've previously had these when Sarah would say something and I would hear something completely different, for example,

Sarah: Can you answer the phone if it rings?
Liv: Did you say fried chicken wings?

This is how last night's went:

Liv: Jenny, do you have any paper towels?
Jenny: Do I know how to play the guitar?

Any of you, which I guess is really only my sister and maybe Pete, who have seen Sarah and I together, would know that when something stupid like that happens, we literally keel over laughing.  We've done it in so many inappropriate places.  In the middle of Coles, at the Commonwealth Bank, in class while at school, the emergency room of a hospital....

Good times.....

Something terrible happened to me.  A couple of weeks ago, when I first met Boat Boi, we ended up in a debate about Coffee Chill and IC Chill and which one had real percolated coffee in it.  I was insisting that it was IC Chill, he was a bit uncertain but still maintained that it was Coffee Chill.

Anyway, I'd forgotten about it, until Monday when I asked Harry which was which.  She started the singing the song from the ad with all the Italians making percolated coffee, you know the one:

"Coffee chiiiill, coffee chiiilll
Brownes, Brownes, Brownes, Brownes,
Brownes coffee chiiiiill."

So it turns out I was wrong.  I was devastated.  The worst thing was, that I have had that stupid jingle stuck in my head for the last two days and I keep singing it when I'm around Harry, and for some reason when it comes to the Brownes, Brownes, Brownes bit, she automatically starts singing in a Scottish accent:

*Brewnes, Brewnes, Brewnes...."

HAHAHHA!

Geeez, we're weird.

Well, girls and boys!  I think after several years of suppressing it for one reason or another, I am finally going through adolescence.  I tell you it's the coolest thing.  Drinking lots of random stuff, meeting some of the nicest people, waking up in some strange persons house, paying for it in ABUNDANCE the next day and taking it out on the kids at school....  It's also the second week in a row I've walked into the house at 11:30am and my parents have glared at me, assuming that I've been doing naughty things, backlash from all the years my sister gave them grief.

I don't know whether to be happy or annoyed about this, that it took so long for me to finally get there, or that I'm experiencing it right now, because fortunately, it puts me on a mental par with most of the new guys I meet, because we all know that women mature earlier than men.  Personally, I think 14 is a little too early to become an adult, but thankfully, I've digressed, and I'm LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT!

These are a few of the funniest thing....

To commemorate her 69th birthday on October 1, actress/vocalist, Julie
Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall for
the benefit of the AARP.

One of the musical numbers she performed was "My Favorite Things" from the
legendary movie "Sound Of Music."

Well it's a lonely road that you have chosen
Morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore
And it's a long time since your heart was frozen
Morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore
For a moment your eyes open and you know
All the things I ever wanted you to know
I don't know you, and I don't want to
Till the moment your eyes open and you know

That it's a lonely place that you have run to
Morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore
And it's a lonely end that you will come to
Morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore

For a moment your eyes open and you know
All the things I ever wanted you to know
I don't know you, and I don't want to
Till the moment your eyes open and you know

I find immense inspiration in this song.  I was having a really shit evening last night until I listened to this song and decided not to be such a pansy ass.

*I also thought my avatar looked quite poignant next to these lyrics.

Destructions:
- Pick your birth month.
- Strike out anything that doesn't apply to you.
- Bold the five-ten that best apply to you.
- Copy to your own journal, with all twelve months under a lj-cut

AUGUST:
Loves to joke. Attractive. Suave and caring. Brave and fearless. Firm and has leadership qualities. Knows how to console others. Too generous and egoistic (I'd say egotistic rather than egoistic). Takes high pride in oneself. Thirsty for praises. Extraordinary spirit. Easily angered. Angry when provoked. (Seriously, hands up who laughed when they read this?  And then looked around to see if I was listening because you thought I'd punch you?) Easily jealous. Observant. Careful and cautious. Thinks quickly. Independent thoughts. Loves to lead and to be led. Loves to dream. Talented in the arts, music and defense. Sensitive but not petty. Poor resistance against illnesses (I am immune to most stuff). Learns to relax. Hasty and trusty. Romantic. Loving and caring. Loves to make friends.

Most of this is VERY accurate.  It is quite scary.

The Future

Peek a boo!
I find life confusing. Here I am, writing out my selection criteria for a job next year that may never be advertised because the woman in charge of upper school drama can't motivate enough students to do the subject next year, so they're scrapping it, and she may get the job that was meant to be advertised that was pretty much guaranteed as mine. And I have a house to pay for.  *sigh*

On a lighter note, there are only THREE weeks the year 11's have to hang around for now. The Head of Department also has $10,000 to pay for relief cover should we pick up any when the students leave, which means I'll be stuck in the bookroom cataloging and cleaning for five weeks *woooooo*

And again, in terms of men, it's either all or nothing with me. How am I supposed to choose from a list of guys that I like but each have their own, distinctive charm? Rrrrrrrrrr.  I'm too old for this. It's either a mammoth dry spell, or five guys at once.  Or, the one that I want doesn't want me. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrggghhhhhhh.

Again, the argument for lesbianism wins!

*sigh*

In certain places, I'm going to use names on opposite sides of the family that Melinda used so as not to end up with ALL the same names as her.

Gwendoline Avocado (I like it.)

2. YOUR MOVIE STAR NAME: (grandfather/grandmother on your dad's side, your favorite candy)
Carmella Cherry Ripe (Sounds like a burlesque dancers names, like Jaime's Maryanne Cheesecake.)

3. YOUR RAP NAME: (first initial of first name, first three or four letters of your last name)
O Dar  (Hehehe, odour, maybe Alex was right all those times he said I smelt.)

Purple Penguin (That sounds oddly cool.)

5. YOUR SOAP OPERA NAME: (middle name, city where you were born)
Gwendoline Wongan Hills (HAhahahahah!  That's a bitches name if there was any!  "I've set a perfect trap for Clark.  He and Ramona will be no more.  Mwwhahahahah!")

6. YOUR STAR WARS NAME: (first 3 letters of your last name, last 3 letters of mother's maiden name, first 3 letters of your pet's name)
Dar Ell Lok (I used my grandmothers maiden name because Mellie already used my mum's.)

Enilodnewg Llessor (Again, used my grandmothers maiden name.)

8. PORN STAR NAME: (first pet's name, the street you grew up on)
Loki Miling (Technically he's the first cat I'VE owned, but we did have Disco, I always preferred Disco Bauer, because I couldn't remember the name of the street we lived on in Yerecoin.)

9. SUPERHERO NAME: ("The", your favorite color, the automobile your mom drives)
The Purple Holden or The Purple Commodore (I chose dad's car, cause Mellie took mum's.)

So, picture this, if you will.

Darth Maul, Cruella de Vil, Alex de Large, the Australian Fast Bowler, Catwoman and Zorro all playing volleyball at Elmars brewery.

Yes, ladies and gents. These are the sort of antics one gets up to when the theme of your Spring in the Valley bus trip is Heroes and Villains and you proceed to start drinking at 10:30am.

I had an awesome time yesterday, albeit I spent the latter part of the afternoon sorting out the failed relationship of two of my friends, which inevitably ended in disaster anyway, but I was happy eating the complimentary cheese while they dribbled to me about their respective views on their situation.

OTHER than that, didn't get burnt, didn't get TOTALLY trashed and considering that I was wearing all white, didn't get any grass OR red wine stains. I'm so proud of myself (especially seeing as I was wearing Sarah's pants).

There is something terribly gratifying about a guy in a van who drives next to you for a little, and then when you pull up at a red light he stops short so he is along side you, and then he proceeds to wind down the window to lean out of said van and tell you that you're beautiful.

I feel so pretty!  I'll never again call men an inferior species!  They obviously recognise quality when they see it!

Random Thoughts

Peek a boo!
I don't know why I should be posting this. I'm just feeling very... blah.... I've been on the verge of tears all day for some reason, although I don't really know why.

There's a funny, twisted sort of sensation in my stomach that has nothing to do with feeling ill. I can't seem to get my brain focused enough to try and sort out the problem. I'm not really expecting anyone to reply, or for anyone to give me any advice, I just want to spout random thoughts in the hopes of sorting through what I'm feeling so I can gain some sort of clarity, which is ironic because I think, either my first or second post was titled "I have clarity."

I think I realise I never really had it, I just had a sensation where I felt like everything was right, but I really don't think that it is. I'm quite petrified by this feeling because it's the first time I've not been able to pin-point what the problem is, why it is that I feel this way. It's new and it's frightening.

I figure I'm allowed to talk about how crap I feel, Glen does it all the time, granted a lot more eloquently.

I definitely know that something is wrong here. I wish I knew what it was.

I'd like to know if anyone is interested in coming up to Marloo on thursday 28th (next week) at 8pm to see me perform at the One Act Play season. I'll just get a show of interest before I give anyone the booking details. It's very out of character for me, the woman I'm playing is very meek and is abused mentally. Basically it means that I have to resist the urge to punch the other two actors for being wankers to me.

Lano and Woodley

Peek a boo!
So, went to see Lano and Woodley last night, while the football was on. It was funny, towards the end of the first half Frank looked offstage left and says "Darren, the stage manager is holding up a sign that says the Eagles won!"

So everyone whooped! Then in their closing, Colin says, "All the best for the Eagles and all the worst for the Dockers." and the majority of the audience whooped again, but some booed. Frank is speaking into his mic saying "Start the car, Darren. Col has started something he can't finish!"

Very humorous and a big thank you to Pete and Mel for choosing to go to the football and laying down the line about me not going! Also, Jayden didn't go, so it was a girls night, me, Fi, Sam and Fi's mum Heather! Wonderful woman who shouted us dinner!

She thanked me and Sam for being such good friends to Fi, and we won't say why, needless to say Fi was crying to her mum before we arrived! So, now the baby's going to have to put up with me over the holidays, because I'm planning on being a whinging post for Fi just in case of any prenatal issues, and also so she can get some sleep.

So, had a fantastic girls night which is something I haven't really had for ages. I'm still totally adamant that I'm better off without a man at the moment, poor Sam and Fi. Both beautiful, smart, lovely women, caught up with guys who drag them down! *sigh* Looks like I'm NEVER going to find anyone to fit my standards.

These are such a great way to kill time!
